Kayu Comprehensive School Upgrade Project
Kayu Comprehensive School, a public primary and secondary institution located in Central Kenya, serves approximately 250 students. However, the school has faced challenges in recent years, including a decline in enrollment. Many parents have chosen to enroll their children in distant neighboring schools due to the deteriorating state of facilities at Kayu Comprehensive.
The most pressing issue is the lack of sanitary bathrooms for students and teachers. The existing latrines, built long ago, are now full and unstable, posing significant safety and hygiene risks. To address this, Tfalls Foundation Inc. has undertaken a vital project to upgrade the school's infrastructure, aiming to create a better learning environment and restore community confidence in the school.
The project includes constructing a modern bathroom block with two separate sections for girls and boys. Each side will feature six individual bathrooms, a designated personal space, and a handwashing area. A new sewer system will also be installed, designed for easy maintenance and long-term sustainability.
Additionally, the school’s administration block will undergo essential improvements, including completing unfinished areas and enhancing overall functionality. These upgrades are expected to provide a safer, more comfortable environment for school staff, fostering better management of the institution.
By addressing these critical issues, the Kayu Comprehensive School Upgrade Project aims to improve the quality of education and create a more conducive learning atmosphere for students and teachers.
